About Al-Mateen Foundation

In the Sahih of Al-Bukhari and Muslim, it is reported that Anas ibn Mālik رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Three things follow the deceased person (to the grave): two of them return, and only one remains. His family, wealth, and actions follow him. His family and wealth return, but his deeds remain.”

Al-Mateen Foundation is a non-profit organisation established in the loving memory of our brother Mateen Hussain, who sadly left this world on 30th August 2024 as a result of Cardiogenic Shock. At Al-Mateen Foundation, we are committed to preserving Mateen’s legacy of compassion, generosity and unwavering service to others.

Mateen’s compassion knew no bounds as he always strived to aid those in need. Whether it was raising funds for our brothers and sisters in Palestine or uplifting those around him with his kindness and generosity, he left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. He possessed a deep well of knowledge, profoundly influenced by the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah and used this knowledge to benefit all who knew him. Our mission now is to honour and benefit Mateen: a beloved grandson, son, brother and friend to many.

As reported by Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“When the human being dies, his deeds end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”

Our mission is to provide relief to impoverished communities through the construction of water wells and pumps. Building water sources are a powerful form of sadaqah jariyah—a continuous charity that provides enduring benefits to communities. The impact of a clean water source is profound. A single well or pump can transform the lives of an entire community by reducing the time spent searching for water, lowering the risk of disease and enabling children to remain in school rather than making long journeys to collect water. Access to clean water opens doors to healthier lives and brighter futures.

Mateen brought light to our lives. With your support, we strive to spread this light to those in need around the world. Assisting the needy in this life will bring you immense rewards in the hereafter, Insha'Allah.
